Future development of the Central Expressway

    Deputy Minister of Transport and Highway Mr. Prasanna Gunasena says the halted Central expressway project will resume, with the construction of the commencing within the next two months. In that case Central expressway, the road section from Pothuhara to Rambukkana phase 03, extends from Pothuhara to Galagedara.

    In these days which are the hurry to end this project and expressway spans a total of 32.45kilometers.

    The initial phase of this section is scheduled for completion by 2025, with the entire project set to be finalized and operational by July 2026.He said that steps are being taken to resume construction following fruitful discussions held regarding the project during President Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s recent tour to china.

    This project located Lihinigiriya area of Pothuhera. In many places such as Pothuhera Interchange Center, Wadakada, Turuviana –Bulgolla, Dombemada, where the construction is currently underway, were observed by officials led by the minister.

    Once construction is complete, the public will have access to the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Rambukkana, significantly enhancing connectivity and transportation efficiency in the region.
