 President Discusses Industrial Growth with Ministry Officials

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with officials at the presidential secretariat.

    President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development at the Presidential Secretariat on March 14 to discuss strategies to improve the manufacturing sector and strengthening the national economy.

    The focus was on improving the efficiency, integration and development of the manufacturing sector to address the challenges associated with strengthening the national economy.

    The main topics of discussion included government-led primary investments and empowerment of small and medium-scale enterprises and the challenges they face in terms of business credit, establishment of local small-scale industries in investment zones, etc.

    The President also instructed officials to promptly release the lands allocated to the Ministry of Industries but not yet released, resolve import restrictions affecting it to strengthen local industries, give priority to local suppliers in construction industry procurement, and implement tax exemptions to boost the gem and jewelry industry.

    The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, investment, and industrial expansion as key drivers of economic growth.
