Sri Lanka's Rising Stars Sprint to Silver and a New Record at Asian U-18 Athletics

Sri Lanka's Under-18 women's medley relay team achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the silver medal at the 6th Asian U-18 Athletics Championships held at Prince Nayef Sports City in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The quartet Dananjana Fernando, Tharushi Abisheka, Sansala Himashani, and Dilki Nehara completed the race in a time of 2:14.15, setting a new national youth record for Sri Lanka.

This impressive performance not only earned them a place on the podium but also highlighted the depth of young athletic talent emerging from Sri Lanka. The team's coordination and speed were evident as they competed against strong contenders from across Asia.

The 6th Asian U-18 Athletics Championships, held from April 15 to 18, 2025, featured athletes from 31 nations competing across 39 events. Sri Lanka's commendable performance, including this silver medal, reflects the country's dedication to nurturing young athletic talent and its potential for future successes in international competitions.
